Turning a technology rollout into a repeatable AI-enablement strategy at one of Denmark's largest telecommunications companies

The problem Introducing Microsoft Copilot was not simply a licensing or technical deployment challenge. Sustainable adoption required employees across different business units — including users without technical or data-engineering backgrounds — to understand how to use Copilot confidently, productively, and responsibly.
My role As Project Manager for AI Adoption across TDC NET, I owned the adoption strategy, roadmap, onboarding approach, enablement activities, success measures, risk management, and change communication.
What I did
- Defined the adoption north star and success metrics, focusing on usage, confidence, productivity, work quality, and responsible AI use — rather than installation counts alone.
- Designed and delivered a structured enablement programme for 100 superusers, organised into two onboarding cohorts.
- Created onboarding and training paths specifically for employees without technical or data-engineering backgrounds.
- Combined training, communications, guidance materials, community support, feedback loops, and ongoing engagement.
- Established the AI Pioneers community to support peer-to-peer learning and encourage superusers to become local AI advocates.
- Partnered with relevant enablement and governance stakeholders to support responsible use of Copilot.
- Managed adoption risks and change communication throughout the rollout.
Programme reach
- 100 superusers included in the structured Copilot adoption programme

- 32 survey responses (35% response rate — a typical range for internal pulse surveys; results below are directional rather than exhaustive)

Result The programme moved Copilot adoption beyond access and licensing by establishing a repeatable enablement model built around training, community support, responsible use, and measurable employee outcomes. The survey results provided early evidence of practical value: almost three-quarters of respondents reported better work quality, while approximately two-thirds reported completing tasks faster and experiencing less mental effort in repetitive work.
